Even though the Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro have an in-screen fingerprint reader, Face Unlock still remains the most convenient way to unlock the duo. But, if not configured correctly, it can be somewhat unsecure, leaving your handset and its contents open to prying eyes.
Here’s how to use Face Unlock on the Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro, as well as some crucial tips on how to lock it down so it can’t be fooled by something as simple as a printed photograph, or more complicated like a computer-generated render, of your face.
How to use Face Unlock on the Huawei P30
- Head into Settings.
- Select Security and Privacy.
- Tap Face Recognition.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to familiarize the handset with your face.
Now that Face Unlock is all set up, the next step is to introduce some additional authentication measures to keep your data safe, the first of which is Require Eye Contact — an option that forces Face Unlock to disengage when someone isn’t actively looking at the device.
To do that, slide the toggle next to Require Eye Contact to On when in the Face Recognition section of Security and Privacy; then, while you’re there, also turn on Smart Lock Screen Notifications, which will only show the contents of alerts after you’ve been authenticated.
