The Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro have a Near Field Communication (NFC) transmitter on board and run Android to boot, so there’s nothing stopping them from being used with Google Pay — the world’s leading mobile payment solution.
Setting up Google Pay on the Huawei P30 isn’t as simple as you’d have thought, however. That’s because the application doesn’t come bundled on the handset out of the box. As such, you’ll need to install it before you can leave your wallet at home.
What is Google Pay?
Google Pay is a universal payments service that lets you use your smartphone (in this case, either the Huawei P30 or Huawei P30 Pro) to make purchases in-store, via an NFC-enabled payment terminal, online through Chrome, or in applications.
How to use Google Pay on the Huawei P30
- Download Google Pay from the Play Store.
- Follow the on-screen setup process.
- Tap Payment.
- Select + Payment Method.
- Scan your credit or debit card.
- Enter the required billing information.
That’s all there is to it. Now, the next time you’re in a shop and want to pay using your Huawei P30, unlock it and hold it over the terminal. An alert will then appear informing you the payment has been processed and your credit card debited.
