Samsung Display has been tasked with manufacturing the high-resolution AMOLED screen that will be on board the forthcoming Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, according to a new report, replacing BOE and LG as the firm’s screen-maker of choice.
Information surrounding the deal is sparse. All we know is Samsung left a lasting impression on Huawei; it’s believed its established production line helped it win the contract to manufacture the screen, without the need of a helping hand.
To keep up with demand, Huawei had to split production of the AMOLED screen found on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro between Samsung Display rivals BOE and LG. That resulted in a trickier workflow, as it was receiving shipments from all angles.
By tunnelling in on one manufacturer, Huawei can work with it to develop unique screens for its smartphones, while also keeping a firm hand on the tiller, ensuring that everything that flies off the production line meets it high standards.
